This is the time of year when many of us are thinking about making year-end gifts to help the causes we care about and potentially to lower our taxes.* These tips are helpful when you donate to The Alaska Community Foundation or to any organization that is near to your heart.
Some things to keep in mind this year are:
• With the stock market at historic highs, consider giving gifts of appreciated stock or mutual funds in lieu of cash gifts.
• If you are over 70 ½, consider giving your Required Minimum Distribution to ACF or another charitable organization to make a greater impact and avoid paying taxes on your IRA distribution.
• If you would like to make a donation now for tax reasons, but want some flexibility in timing your gifts to other organizations or causes, consider setting up or adding to a Donor Advised Fund at ACF.
For questions or assistance in making a gift to ACF, please call me directly at 907-249-6611 or Ann Ringstad, Philanthropy Advisor at 907-249-6646.
Thank you for your generosity and for strengthening organizations and causes through your philanthropy.
