Joe Sonnier is the Director of Programs and Grant Operations at the Alaska Community Foundation (ACF). Prior to joining the ACF team, Joe served as an Assistant Controller for division of Tetra Tech, Inc. and an Alaska-based subsidiary, Axiom Data Science. In addition to managing the division’s general ledger, Joe also managed large federal contracts with NOAA and the U.S. EPA, including a $100 million regional superfund account. Joe is a strong generalist and has held senior roles in accounting, finance, contract administration, development, human resources, and nonprofits throughout his career. He completed his undergraduate and graduate business studies at Alaska Pacific University while he was employed at Hope Community Resources in Anchorage.

Outside of work, Joe serves as the board treasurer for Hope Community Resources and as a board member for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southcentral Alaska. He and his husband Kris are active donors and volunteers with numerous Alaska and regional nonprofits. They live in Anchorage with a fearless corgi mix and a lazy housecat. Joe loves bad weather, traveling, fishing, weightlifting, and reading.
