Goodbyes
This past month, we bid a fond farewell to two of our staff members, Löki Gale Tobin & Vicky Parks.
Löki was our energetic and multi-talented Communications & Donor Relations Director, who single-handedly brought ACF’s website, branding and marketing to a whole new level during her tenure. We’ll miss her dynamic personality – and her breadth of talent!
Vicky was our longtime Accounting Technician, known for having an answer to just about any question we had here in the office. We’ll miss her expertise and her calm demeanor!
While we are sad to see them go, we wish both Löki and Vicky the best of luck in their new adventures!
Hellos
With our goodbyes, we also introduce you to three new faces here at ACF – Sarah Zerkel, Alexandra Becker, and Julianne Settlemyre.

Sarah Zerkel joins ACF as a program associate managing scholarships and grants. Sarah has spent nearly all of her 24 years in the great state of Alaska, leaving for a short time for school in Cookeville, Tennessee. Sarah holds a Bachelor’s of Social Work from UAA and is pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration. She comes to ACF with a strong background in nonprofit work with a history of direct care including work as a Direct Service Professional with Hope Community Resources and a Mental Health Specialist with Providence Alaska Medical Center. When not studying or juggling grant and scholarship cycles, Sarah can be found in the gym lifting heavy things and putting them back down or out getting lost in the backwoods of her beloved State of Alaska.

Alexandra Becker joins the Alaska Community Foundation as Donor Relations & Communications Specialist. Born and raised in Alaska, Alexandra developed a passion for philanthropy and nonprofits at an early age, growing up volunteering for organizations such as the Anchorage Museum and Parks & Recreation. She has a range of experiences in nonprofit work; from development, communications and fundraising, to education, archiving and accounting. Most recently, she worked at Alaska Resource Education as their Communications & Office Coordinator. Prior to that she worked in development and communications at the New York Transit Museum and the American-Turkish Society in New York City. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Classics and Middle East Studies from St. Olaf College in Minnesota and a Master of Arts in Near East Studies and Museum Studies from New York University.

Julianne Settlemyre joins The Alaska Community Foundation as an Accounting Technician. Born and raised in Anchorage, Julianne is a life-long Alaskan who brings a wide array of accounting experience to ACF from her work in both the for-profit and nonprofit sectors. Her for-profit expertise ranges from positions in service industries, tribal councils, and the Alaska Railroad. In the nonprofit sector, she spent 25 years at the University of Alaska Anchorage. There she worked for many departments, including the School of Nursing and the Consortium Library before retiring as the Fiscal Manager of the Athletic Department. In her spare time, Julie is an avid and accomplished quilter.
