Friends of the Chugach Avalanche Center is dedicated to avalanche awareness in Southcentral Alaska through information, outreach, and partnerships. We work to bridge the gap between limited government funding and the actual expenses of operating an avalanche forecast center, educating the community, and running remote weather stations. Friends of the Chugach Avalanche Center hosts the websites and mobile phone app that provide daily avalanche forecasts from November through April as well as observations and community information. Friends of the Chugach Avalanche Center provides salary for forecasters as well as equipment for the avalanche forecasters including ski equipment, snow machines, and snowmachine trailers. Friends of the Chugach Avalanche Center also owns and services remote weather stations and web cameras located in the Talkeetna, Chugach, and Kenai Mountains that are used by thousands of outdoor enthusiasts.
