Thursday, September 27 marked the 4th annual Pitch.Click.Give. competition, an event hosted in partnership with the Alaska chapters of The American Marketing Association & The Association of Fundraising Professionals, The Anchorage Public Loussac Library, and Pick.Click.Give.
Pitch.Click.Give is a unique event where nonprofits, marketing gurus, and fundraising professionals come together to brainstorm, create, and pitch a campaign, all in one evening. The event is made possible by prize sponsors and a dedicated committee of community-minded professionals, and also made great by the people who attend ready to give back to their local nonprofits.
This year, Pitch.Click.Give. was honored to host six incredible nonprofits:
- Alaska Geographic
- Alaska Theatre of Youth
- Anchorage Community Mental Health Services
- Bike Anchorage
- Friends of the Campbell Creek Science Center
- NAMI Anchorage
Each nonprofit showed a dedication to organizational improvement beyond merely winning the grand prize (nearly $40,000 in in-kind marketing services split between first and second place); each organization came with a desire to build their current skill sets to expand the services offered to Alaskans.
After a 90-minute session where nonprofits and their newly formed teams debated the best way to increase nonprofits’ visibility and pitch it to a panel of judges, it was time for the evening’s pièce de résistance: the pitching sessions. Each nonprofit came with their own story and style. NAMI Anchorage pulled at our heartstrings while Friends of the Campbell Creek Science Center went for laughs. Bike Anchorage offered a sample radio spot (with visuals) while Anchorage Community Mental Health Services showcased a new brand proposal including freshly minted logos. Alaska Geographic and Alaska Theatre of Youth closed out the sessions with hard-hitting strategy.
In the end, the grand prize went to Friends of the Campbell Creek Science Center and a close second from Bike Anchorage. Each nonprofit also left with a greater sense of community and with some new marketing strategies up their sleeve for the 2019 Pick.Click.Give. campaign.
