Growing Old with the Young

In Haines, two nonprofits are joining forces to create a place where seniors can grow old surrounded by the energy and laughter of young children. When the local senior center could no longer afford its own facilities or provide lunch five days a week, the preschool decided to move – to the senior center. With the support of Chilkat Valley Community Foundation, seniors can enjoy lunch five days a week, often with their grandchildren who attend the preschool. This move will not only expand services, but will also create space for intergenerational bonding in a truly innovative way.
