Jessica Stevens Community Foundation Advisory Board
In nine communities across Alaska, citizens are working together to grow permanent endowments to address local needs through Affiliate Community Foundations. In the northern Susitna Valley communities, volunteers are carrying on the life-work of a treasured member of the community who passed too early: Jessica Stevens.
Through the Jessica Stevens Community Foundation (JSCF) community members are building an endowment to promote compassionate health care, innovative education, active enjoyment of the natural environment, and artistic and cultural expression. Since its founding in 2008, the JSCF advisory board has raised and endowed over a quarter of a million dollars to perpetually support nonprofits in the northern Susitna Valley. This region is an immense portion of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, bordering Denali State and National Parks.
These efforts are a tribute to Jessica, who worked tirelessly for 14 years to transform healthcare in the greater Talkeetna region.
Her endeavors transformed a single-provider clinic with a shoestring budget into a federally qualified community health center with a staff of 40 health-care professionals housed in a new, state-of-the-art rural clinic facility. Jessica was also active in the area’s arts community and served as an inspiration to others wanting to give back to their community.
The Jessica Stevens Community Foundation is proud to honor Jessica’s accomplishments as it continues to improve the lives of community members in the region.
