The Alaska Community Foundation welcomes two new staff members to its growing statewide philanthropic organization.

Beth Rose joins The Alaska Community Foundation as Vice President of Philanthropy and External Relations. Rose brings more than 25 years of development, non-profit management, and public relations skills to her job and is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE). She has previously served as UAA Assistant Vice Chancellor for Development, UAA Senior Development Officer, Executive Director of Alaska Junior Theater, Communications Director for the Alaska Humanities Forum, and Account Manager for Northwest Strategies. Rose earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from UC Santa Cruz, a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism/Public Communications from the University of Alaska Anchorage, a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Washington. Rose is a life-long Alaskan who is passionate about growing philanthropy in this state.

Penny Gage joins The Alaska Community Foundation as Program Officer of Initiatives. Gage was born and raised in the communities of Pelican and Sitka in southeast Alaska and is a Sealaska shareholder. Gage gained experience in the nonprofit sector through service as a community health volunteer in Nicaragua with the U.S. Peace Corps and as a grant maker at the Rasmuson Foundation. Through work and school she has visited villages and cities in Alaska from Kotzebue to Ketchikan. Her previous work experience with the Alaska State Legislature, a U.S congressional committee, and the private sector in the oil and gas industry gives her a broad, multi-sectorial perspective. She holds a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Communications from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and a Master of Science in Foreign Service with a certificate in International Business from Georgetown University. In her spare time, Gage enjoys hiking, blogging, dance, and attempting to learn Portuguese.
