Supporting Mental Health Across Alaska

Celebrating the 2024 GCI Suicide Prevention Grant Recipients

General Communication Inc. (GCI), in partnership with the Alaska Community Foundation (ACF), is proud to announce the 2024 recipients of the GCI Suicide Prevention Fund. In collaboration with GCI Gives, 13 organizations were awarded more than $100,000 in grants dedicated to suicide prevention and mental health support across the state. These grants will help empower communities and provide crucial resources where they are needed most.

Among the recipients are programs such as the Aleut Community of St. Paul Island’s Txin Kaangux Team Wellness and Resilience, which supports those working with cases of suicide and trauma, and the Annette Island School District’s Watchmen Project, which trains individuals in Youth Mental Health First Aid. In Fairbanks, the Sources of Strength program focuses on teaching students suicide prevention and mental wellness practices to foster resilience.

Over the past eight years, the partnership has awarded more than $850,000 to nonprofits focused on suicide prevention, expanding access to vital resources across Alaska. With ACF’s ongoing partnership with GCI Gives, Suicide Prevention funding is accessible to even the most remote communities.
