As we enter into the season of giving, please join me in taking a moment to reflect on the third quarter at The Alaska Community Foundation.
Our mission is to cultivate, celebrate and sustain all forms of philanthropy to strengthen Alaska’s communities forever.
Almost a month ago, our Board of Directors held their third quarter board meeting. These philanthropic leaders, who generously share their talents each year, provide leadership and strategic direction for your community foundation. Whether it’s advice on how best to reach estate planners or planning our fiscal direction, their role is to guide ACF while being the best stewards of Alaska’s Charitable Permanent Fund.
A week after our board meeting, ACF staff spent an afternoon giving their time by helping the Alaska Botanical Gardens harvest their Heritage Garden. In preparation for the Anchorage Centennial Celebrations in 2015, Alaska Botanical Gardens planted representative vegetables, annuals and perennials common in Anchorage gardens one hundred years ago.
Late in September, ACF was joined by Chanlyut, a program of Cook Inlet Tribal Council, for a joint fundraising event. Philanthropic leaders, community advocates and programmatic supporters generously donate their treasure to be managed permanently for Alaska’s future.
I am immensely grateful for all the gifts of talent, time and treasures shared with ACF this past quarter and in turn, look forward towards the rest of the year and the gifts we have yet to celebrate.
Thoughtfully,
Candace
