This fund, built on caring and generosity, is intended to assist nonprofits and the communities served by the Chilkat Valley Community Foundation (Haines and Klukwan) to meet the extraordinary needs created by the devastating 2020 storm that led to the loss of life, property, and infrastructure in the community. The fund will support both short-term emergency response and long-term recovery.
Grants from this fund to nonprofits, tribes, and government entities will help with ongoing recovery efforts and may provide for food, housing, and other basic needs for individuals and families impacted by the disaster. Grants may also be used to assist in repairing and/or replacing infrastructure damaged by the storm; helping the community plan for emergency preparedness, so should another disaster strike our community we will be better positioned to meet the needs that arise, and other emergent needs.
