Melody grew up on a small Island in coastal Massachusetts, where she developed a deep admiration for the natural world and a love of exploration. At the early age of five, she could be found telling anyone who would listen that she was going to move to Alaska and race sled dogs. In her twenties, led by her adventurous spirit, she moved to Seattle, Washington, where she expanded her knowledge of hiking, rock climbing, mountaineering, and general adulthood. Seattle is also where she met her husband of twenty years, owned and operated a business at the Pike Place Market, and loved a Chesapeake Bay Retriever who inspired her every day for twelve and a half years.

Before moving to Anchorage, she founded a nonprofit organization called the Community Garden Alliance (CGA) in Spokane, Washington. The CGA’s mission is to grow food, create access and feed the hungry. In the four years of development and organization, the CGA was able to grow, donate and deliver food to 25 families, free of charge, every week each growing season. This experience has had a lasting impact on how Melody views her relationship with her community, the responsibility she feels toward making a difference, and her sense of gratitude for the nonprofit sector’s work.

Melody joined the Alaska Community Foundation in 2022 as the BP Energy Center Director. Her experience in operational management and her passion for efficient logistics guided ACF in the successful relaunch of BP Energy Center post-pandemic. She is extremely honored to continue being a supportive member of this wonderful team in the Vice President of Administration role.
