Director of Finance
Janel Hodge serves as Director of Finance at the Alaska Community Foundation, where she helps ensure the Foundation’s resources are stewarded with care, integrity, and purpose in support of communities across Alaska.
Janel began her career in 1998 as a data entry clerk and has built a career shaped by curiosity, resilience, and a commitment to learning. Over more than 25 years, she has worked across state government, federal programs, for-profit organizations, and nonprofit institutions. This diverse experience has given her a deep understanding of financial systems and the unique responsibilities of managing charitable funds within a community foundation.
After moving to Alaska in 2009, Janel quickly developed a strong connection to the state and its people. She found not only a home, but also a sense of purpose in work that connects financial stewardship with meaningful community impact. She values the opportunity to see how thoughtful philanthropy can create lasting change and is passionate about the role community foundations play in strengthening communities. Janel is committed to continuous growth and serves on a national professional development committee focused on advancing leadership and expertise within the sector.
Janel lives in Alaska with her husband and three children. Outside of work, she embraces Alaska’s outdoor lifestyle, camping, gardening, hiking, and travel, and enjoys cooking and the thrill of fast cars and motorcycles.
