Scholarship Program Overview

Scholarships at the Alaska Community Foundation are made possible by passionate donors who are committed to helping Alaska’s students pursue their educational dreams.

At ACF, we understand that researching and applying for scholarships is intimidating and time-consuming. The good news is that the earlier you prepare to apply for a scholarship in high school, the more likely you will be awarded one. We want to support you during the application process.

We have over 40 scholarships available, some of which you may be eligible for. Go to the Application Resources tab below for a step-by-step checklist to help you navigate the scholarship process – start to finish.

Application Resources

To be prepared before applying, see below a list of common criteria students are asked to provide:

  • Personal Statement/Essay
  • Resume
  • Letters of recommendation from teachers, coaches, or supervisors
  • Unofficial transcripts for high school or post-secondary education
  • Proof of Acceptance to post-secondary education (College, University, Vocational, Technical)
  • Financial information including the cost of attending, school package of financial assistance; scholarships and other funding; personal contribution; family contribution; total unmet financial need
  • Optional: Student Aid Report (SAR) – If you have not yet completed your FAFSA, now is a great time

Research open and close dates for scholarships at ACF, Alaska Native Corporation Foundations, Alaska Performance Scholarship, and out-of-state opportunities.

All applications must be submitted by 5 pm AKST on the date they are due

Liam Hood Scholarship Fund

Applications Open: January 15, 2024 - March 15, 2024

Graduating high school senior, with a 3.0 minimum GPA and heading to post-secondary education may be eligible.

Lucile Hope Special Education Scholarship

Applications Open: January 15, 2024 - March 15, 2024

Alaska High School graduate enrolled in K-12 Education program major with focus on special education.

Luella James Scholarship Fund

Applications Open: January 15, 2024 - March 15, 2024

The Luella James Scholarship is open to graduating seniors of Seward High School who are continuing on to college or vocational school.

Maurie Harrington Memorial Scholarship Fund

Applicants must be students involved in baseball or softball during their high school education with a minimum 2.5 GPA.
