Anchorage Youth Court, in partnership with the Anchorage School District and RurAL CAP, is starting a four week summer law & leadership program for youth entering 9th grade in July 2017. Through the program, students will learn how to become an advocate for themselves and others through learning about the legal system, civil and criminal rights, and how teens can improve our community for the better.  Participants will learn how to argue, negotiate, and build the skills to make the change they want to see in the world, all while earning a half credit toward high school graduation.  80% of the spots are reserved for low-income students and donating to the project helps to fund their participation as well as potentially expanding the program to become statewide in 2018.
