This fund promotes library service and development within the Kenny Lake area.

Kenny Lake Public Library serves the small, rural community of Kenny Lake and the surrounding area.  Located 250 miles east of Anchorage, it is situated on the doorstep of Wrangell-St. Elias National Park.  Kenny Lake is an unincorporated area with no local government or tax base.  We rely completely on the generosity of our donors and grant opportunities.

The library was established in the early 1960s.  Starting as a traveling collection of books in boxes, growing to a bookshelf in the community hall, it soon developed into an “outreach” library, as librarian Frances Kibble delivered books to the region in her van.  Frances’ dedication to the library and literacy led to the construction of the library you see today.  Conveniently located near the local public school and off the main highway, it offers easy access to visitors.
