Scholarship Application Open: January 15, 2024 - March 15, 2024

A scholarship fund for the children or grandchildren of longshoremen currently on the dispatch list.

This fund is a “here and now” fund created by longshoremen through fundraising at their workplace and is further supported by bequests and other contributions.


The AILU Legacy Scholarship will provide $1000 to a student who is the child or grandchild of an Alaskan longshoreman. The scholarship can be used for trade or vocational training, or any institution of higher education, including religiously based colleges, provided that the college/university is accredited by the US Department of Education.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicant must be a child/grandchild of longshoreman currently listed on the 2023/2024 dispatch list
  • Applicant must be less than 36 years of age

Applicants will be Asked to Provide:

  • Proof of relationship to longshoreman
  • Proof of age

IMPORTANT: Scholarship recipients must submit their student ID number and program information to ACF through the online system before their award can be disbursed. If we do not receive the above information by June 30, 2024, the scholarship may not be awarded. Please contact ACF if you cannot send in the information by this date.
