About the Chilkat Valley Community Foundation

The Chilkat Valley Community Foundation (CVCF) is one of eleven local, geographic-based community foundations that comprise the Affiliate program at ACF. ACF empowers local groups of dedicated volunteer Advisors to grow their community’s endowment funds to support nonprofits and charitable projects, now and forever. Advisory Boards recommend grants to local nonprofits, lead efforts to support organizations within their communities, and encourage their communities to invest in themselves to build stronger and more vibrant lives for their residents.

Position Summary

The Alaska Community Foundation is seeking to hire a Program Manager to support the ongoing work of the Chilkat Valley Community Foundation (CVCF). The CVCF Program Manager provides administrative and strategic support to the CVCF Advisory Board, and fills a critical role in operations, marketing and communications, and strategic initiatives of CVCF. This is a part-time position that reports to ACF’s Anchorage-based Senior Affiliate Program Officer.

Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

1. Coordinate the marketing and communications needs (e.g. newsletters, thank you cards, PowerPoint presentations, printing, etc.). Manage web and social media platforms, manage and organize documents, and maintain photo catalogue.
2. Provide support for donor relations and donor stewardship, and maintain donor database.
3. Provide financial processing support; notate and submit CVCF donations received; reconcile monthly CVCF credit card statements; and coordinate vendor payments and invoices.
4. Provide support for the planning and execution of Advisory Board meetings (e.g. agendas, meeting minutes, scheduling, etc.).
5. Coordinate annual grant program, and provide assistance to grantees and applicants.
6. Coordinate the annual planning process and work with the Advisory Board members in
scheduling meetings and community events.
7. Participate in an annual Convening and other training opportunities in partnership with ACF,
including a monthly online meeting that brings together all Program Managers in the Affiliate
network to connect, share, and learn.


1. A minimum of two (2) years of organizational support experience.
2. Experience creating marketing and communications materials.
3. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
4. Strong networking and interpersonal skills.
5. Demonstrated qualities of integrity, discretion, and self-motivation.
6. Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office programs.
7. Demonstrated proficiency managing website platforms and social media.
8. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Preferred Skills

1. Passion for the work of the nonprofit sector and personal commitment to philanthropy,
including the mission of ACF/CVCF.
2. Ability to take initiative, work independently with minimal supervision, and work as a member of a large team.
3. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
4. Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
5. Familiarity with grants management and donor management systems.
6. Proficiency with WordPress or other website design and management.
7. Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
8. Ability to flex communication style to different cultural environments.


This position is 25 hours per month, $20 per hour.
