The Strengthening Organizations grant opportunity is no longer accepting applications for 2020.
The Alaska Community Foundation is currently not accepting applications for the Strengthening Organizations grant program. Strengthening Organizations is now closed for Quarters 4 (October – December) and 1 (January – March). The funds will be redirected into the AK Can Do grant that will be opening in early 2021. This will allow more funding to be available for Coronavirus relief for organizations still needing financial support. To learn more about that grant opportunity, and if your organization is eligible, please visit our website to review the criteria.
The program offers a unique opportunity for eligible nonprofit organizations to apply for grants to build the capacity of their organizations.
Grant requests may be for up to $7,500; typically awards are funded in the $4,000 to $6,000 range.
Eligible nonprofit organizations can apply for grants to build the capacity of their organizations. Eligibility is limited to 501(c)3 nonprofits, or equivalent, organizations located in the state of Alaska. Equivalent organizations may include tribes, churches, local government agencies, and programs. Organizations must have their federal designation as a 501(c)3 nonprofit, or equivalent, for a year or more.
Grant awards will support nonprofit staff and board of directors in their efforts to access tools, develop practical skills, and cultivate support systems needed to effectively achieve the organization’s mission in the areas of leadership development, organizational development, program development, collaboration and community engagement, and evaluation of effectiveness. Programmatic requests are not eligible.
The timeline for review of proposals will be quarterly. Applications submitted in the first two months of a quarter will be reviewed by the committee in the third month of the quarter. Announcements will be made once final approval of the recommended applications has been made.
