The Willard and Mary Jones Scholarship was established by Ron Inouye in memory of the late Willard and Mary Jones of Ketchikan. In the early 1970’s, the Joneses were mentors to Mr. Inouye who was teaching at the University of Alaska Ketchikan Campus at the time. It is Mr. Inouye’s intent that this scholarship serve the Ketchikan community and honor the Joneses legacy.
The 2022 Willard and Mary Jones Scholarship will accept applications January 20, 2022 – March 31, 2022. Applications must be submitted to The Alaska Community Foundation no later than 5:00 pm Alaska Standard Time.

This scholarship will award up to $1,000.
- Applicants from Ketchikan may apply if studying at programs within Alaska.
- Applicants enrolled at either the Totem Heritage Center in Ketchikan or the University of Alaska Ketchikan campus.
- Students studying in the field of marine sciences
IMPORTANT: Successful applicants must submit their student ID number and program information by July 31, 2021 to ACF through the online system before their award can be disbursed. Failure to do so will be an automatic forfeiture of the award unless student chooses an award deferment.
