Scholarship Application Open: January 15, 2024 - March 15, 2024

The Kathryn E. and John P. Doyle Scholarship Fund was established with The Alaska Community Foundation in 2015.

Kathryn (Kay) Doyle was tenacious and adventurous. She chose Alaska as her home in her early forties and, after a career flying for the military, she settled into a career as a flight attendant. Not one to sit idly by, she was often seen taking over the flight controls instead. Her husband John Doyle was a professor at the University of Alaska Fairbanks who shared his passion for fish with his students. Though he eventually retired in Anchorage after a long career within the UA system, he could often be found in rural Alaska helping people with tax documents and learning to become a better fisherman.

Both placed a high value on education, and their passion for students to better themselves through education lives on in the awarding of scholarships to Alaskan students.
