Homegrown Scholarships for Local Kids

Seward Community Library Association

For 38 years, the Seward Community Library Association has been running a scholarship program for local kids – a scholarship with unusual qualifications. Named after the library’s founder, Viola Swetmann, the Swetmann Scholarship supports all forms of higher education. Uniquely, however, students are not awarded based upon financial need or academic success. The only requirements for application? Possess a library card and complete a project that inspires them. This scholarship is made possible entirely through the Seward Community Library Association’s endowment fund at ACF. Thanks to the generosity of the scholarship’s founder and the community, students in Seward can achieve their dreams year after year through an endowment invested in Seward’s future.
